The Midhurst Players
The Midhurst Players have been performing
for audiences from Midhurst and neighbouring areas since
1950. As a drama society the Players have always aimed
to offer plays, both old and new, thought provoking,
comedy, murder and mystery. But music, song and dance
have not been neglected. In earlier years the annual
Music Hall was a highlight, more recently musical revues
have been a feature.
In the last few years the membership – up to
100 – and the repertoire has expanded significantly
and regular large-scale productions have been added
to more traditional offerings, invariably including
a song and dance element. So Lionel Bart’s ‘Oliver’
(2003) was followed by ‘Wind in the Willows’
(2004) ‘Guys and Dolls’ (2005), A Christmas Carol (2006) and most recently by The Wizard of Oz (2007).
The society is very keen to keep up this busy and varied
programme and our audience seems to appreciate this
- the last five big shows attracted audiences approaching 1000 per show..
We have a very friendly and active membership covering
all ages and offer workshops and both on and off stage
opportunities for adults and youngsters. We welcome
members from Midhurst and surrounding areas, whether
you are interested in performing or, just as important,
helping backstage or with publicity, front of house
etc.
Annual membership is £15.00 (£6 for under
16s). Members receive a regular newsletter every 4-6
weeks and we have a varied programme of social events.
